Five years after Tornar a ser u (2017), the last album by La Iaia, its leader, Ernest Crusats, begins his solo career with La font gelada (Fina Estampa, 2022), a refuge rather than an album. The result of an almost radical aesthetic commitment in the age of ultra-programming, his debut is a balm for our ears: eleven songs recorded on only eight tracks, magically connected with the environment and nature, which ask a question: Is there room for the essential amidst so much noise? A repertoire that disarms in its apparent simplicity, that introduces you to an atmosphere where time (and space) do not count and that connects with our classics of the seventies (Toti Soler or the sadly deceased Pau Riba) without renouncing a contemporaneity twinned with Sufjan Stevens or Adrianne Lenker (Big Thief).
